Ethical recruitment of Philippine Nurses in a reciprocal model

The Maalaga project focuses on recruitment and training of Philippine nurses for the Belgian healthcare.

For healthcare staff

We take care of your training and administration

The process of selection and learning in the Philippines via Project Maalaga, followed by the working-training combination in Belgium, spans a two-year period. Upon completion, you become eligible to work as a certified nurse in an elderly care home in Flanders, Belgium.

For healthcare staff

Project Maalaga takes care of your integration and family reunification

Upon receiving a favorable decision regarding the single permit visa, the spouse and children are eligible to apply for a family reunification visa at the Belgian embassy. This procedure may take up to nine months.

The spouse will be granted a residency Permit A allowing to work in Belgium. Children have access to free education until the compulsory schooling (up to the age of 18).

Reciprocity

A model for the economic migration of foreign-trained healthcare professionals involves partners committing to fill high-demand vacancies in healthcare, by actively recruiting from non-EU countries. In pursuit of this goal, an ethical reciprocal model through Chinta/Project Maalaga is being developed for both the country of origin and Flanders.

The key objectives include: sharing expertise, implementing an active diversity policy and upholding the right to health.
